Sylhet (Bengali: সিলেট; historically Srihatta; also Jalalabad) is the beautiful capital of
Sylhet District and Sylhet Division in Bangladesh. It lies on the banks of the
Surma River in north-east Bangladesh. It is the another South Asian traveling spots for people. There are lots of tea garden in shylet.
The city has a population of over 500,000 people. It is surrounded by gorgeous tea
garden, sub-tropical hills, rain forests and river valleys; the region is one
of the leading tourist destinations in the country. In every year thousands of
tourists come to here for visiting in many numeric place in Shylet from various
countries.
Sylhet is a prominent Islamic spiritual centre & home to numerous Sufi
shrines. It hosts the 14th century mausoleums of Shah Jalal and Shah Farhan.
The Sylhet municipality was constituted during the British Raj in 1867. It was
